We first found Jonathan on Instagram back in 2019 and hired Onelife to renovate our main floor and stairwell. They did such an incredible job that we didn’t even consider another builder when it came time for Phase 2. The trust, quality, and overall experience were already proven.
Seeing our vision come to life this time around has been amazing. We worked with Kaline, who truly nailed the design. We sent her inspiration photos, and she captured everything perfectly. For someone who doesn’t have a strong visual imagination, it was a relief to rely on Kaline’s creativity and guidance.
There are so many parts of the renovation that make us proud, but our new speakeasy has quickly become the star of the show. It’s unique, inviting, and we can already picture holiday gatherings, evenings with friends, and special moments spent there. Along with that, having over a thousand square feet of new usable space has opened up so many possibilities for our family. It already feels like the new heart of our home.
Working with Onelife again only reaffirmed why we chose them in the first place. Timelines Were Transparent & We Always Felt Informed
“We completed a major renovation and addition with Onelife Design & Build, and we couldn’t be happier with the result or the experience.
We originally started this project because our family was growing and both my wife and I work from home. We needed more functional space—proper bedrooms for the kids, dedicated home offices, a primary bedroom that actually fit our lifestyle, and better storage throughout the house. Since this is a bungalow, making efficient use of space was critical, and adding square footage on both the upper and lower levels made a huge difference for how we live day to day.
We chose Onelife after being referred by our architect, Jordan Station. We also spoke with other families Onelife had worked with, reviewed their work, and met with Jonathan in person. From the very beginning, it was clear that the quality of workmanship, attention to detail, and level of trust they bring into your home truly set them apart. That confidence made the decision easy.
Now that the project is complete, living in the space is honestly amazing. The new vaulted ceilings in our primary bedroom completely transformed the house—it feels open, bright, and so much larger. The added space upstairs and downstairs has made the entire home feel calmer and more breathable. Having dedicated workspaces has been a game changer, especially since we no longer have to coordinate Zoom calls or work out of closets. Everything just functions better.
The design details throughout the home were executed beautifully. From the herringbone floors to the consistent colour palette, matte black finishes, and cohesive fixtures, everything feels intentional and well thought out. The attention to detail really shows.
Our favourite part of the home is the upstairs addition—it feels like our own sanctuary. The massive windows bring in incredible natural light and showcase the beautiful trees surrounding our property. Even the lower level doesn’t feel like a basement anymore because of the large windows. As a bonus, our kids absolutely love the new shower, and seeing how much joy they get from the space has been incredibly rewarding.
Throughout the entire build, the Onelife team was outstanding to work with. Communication was open and clear, timelines were transparent, and we always felt informed through their project management app. We could see schedules, track progress weekly, and had real peace of mind knowing what was happening at all times. They were also incredibly respectful of our family’s life during construction—especially accommodating our daughter’s nap schedule early on, which went above and beyond our expectations.
The project was completed ahead of schedule, which was a fantastic bonus, and any questions or challenges that came up were handled thoughtfully and collaboratively.

“We used OneLife Design & Build to build our forever home. We chose ODB as our builder for a few reasons:
(1) In-house design team - our home was designed by David Small but the team at ODB expanded on the architect vision and made a ton of improvements. This was not a small amount of time, energy and effort. The amount of effort put into this part of the process should really be a paid service. The fact that its part of their overalll fee is an amazing benefit.
(2) Customer experience focus - out of all the builders we evaluated these guys seemed to embrace the idea of customer experience. In the beginning I liked how they used modern technology to keep the homeowners up to speed with the daily updates. However it goes much deeper then that during the execution. Our renovation turned into a two year long project and not once in those two years did we ever have a bad interaction with this team. It was always about whatever would make us the happiest in the end.
(3) Experience Building Luxury Homes - finally you need to evaluate them on the work. There is probably never a perfect project and ours had its own trials and tribulations. However the ODB team are diligent in making sure the trades the bring in complete every detail of every job they execute until you are 100% satisfied. When you run into issues they work with you to find the best possible solution and make sure you understand the choices in front of you.

“I decided to entirely renovate my small bungalow in early 2020. This reno was a total gut and redo of both the main floor and basement, as well as some things on the exterior. Like most people, renovations make me a bit anxious, but upon meeting Jonathan and his team I was immediately put at ease. He listened to what I needed and wanted, then put together a plan. He organized getting the right architect for the job and then the project began. 2020 was not a good year to start a renovation due to COVID-19. Surprisingly, OneLife kept the job moving and kept on budget. There was a delay in completion but again, due to the pandemic, it was totally understandable and reasonable. I must admit there were a few small hiccups and discrepancies, but Jonathan and his team listened, deliberated, and came up with solutions we were both happy with. After completion, Jonathan maintained contact, checking in to make sure all was good. When things arose such as nail pops, or small cracks here and there due to settling, he had tradespeople return to touch up and get things back to pristine.
